Your journey begins at 8:30 AM with a convenient pick-up from your hotel or designated bus stop in Reykjavík, where your professional driver guide will lead you into the heart of the Icelandic highlands. You will travel in a 4x4 vehicle, crossing rivers and navigating rugged gravel roads that take you past scenic farmland and through a vast, 30-kilometer volcanic desert. Along the way, you will encounter powerful geysers and glacial streams before stopping at the cobalt-blue crater lake, Ljótipollur, formed in 1477, and the serene Lake Frostastaðavatn. After about an hour of hiking, you have the opportunity to unwind and relax in a natural hot spring. Your return journey takes you along the Dómadalur route, where you will wind through dramatic lava fields and between towering mountains.
